Quite I often I have to pull in the clutch lever in order for the starter to operate. This is with the transmission in neutral. the N light on and the gear indicator showing "0". Is there another safety switch?

There is no other safety switch.

It sounds like pin #5 on the back of the instrument cluster is not making good contact. There also appears to be a diode on that wire inside the cluster between that connector and the neutral light. That might be causing the problem, but my guess is the connector.

There is no side stand switch on K75s. They use the auto retract side stand that is operated by the clutch lever to insure you don't drive off with the side stand down as opposed to a kill switch on the side stand.

Walter, based on your forum name, I assume you own a K75. Go out and check it out. No switch. Side stand doesn't matter for starting, just neutral or clutch in.
