John Ridicks Garage

Rolled back into the MidSouth. Stopped by a buddy's house for a quick visit. John does everything, mechanic, fabricator, carpenter, welder, etc, etc.; and he's good at it all.

Probably about 25 years ago, John bought a pretty nice Jaguar, with a bad V-12 engine. pretty common. John pulled the dead V-12 and installed a Ford 5 liter HO engine. Pretty good. It was a show stopper back then. Looking a little long in the tooth now.

Art Grisanti's Chopper

Picture 4016.jpg
Back in the late 60's and early 70's, Leo Goff built a lot of choppers. He built this one with the help of the first owner the late Art Grisanti. I think it's powered by a Honda 750-4. Art's long gone, but back in 1941 after Pearl Harbor, the very next day Art enlisted into the US Navy. Served with honers as a submariner in the Pacific Ocean Theater. Was repeatedly bombed, strafed, and torpedoed by the Japanese army, navy and air force. Great guy and a personal friend. His regular ride was a BMW '77 R100RS, he bought new. Glad John has the chopper now.

Leo's early team supporters. Leo in 2nd row, 3rd from right. Bike is probably the 2nd or 3rd edition. Leo was the rider for his 1st edition bike. As the bike progressed in power and speed, Leo turned the riding over to others. His expanding waist and girth may have been another factor. :) Leo had a huge following of friends. Due to his motorcycle and auto shop. Harley's, Indians, All the Japanese bikes, drag racing, road racing, choppers, concours restro's, Jaguars, Laverda's, BMW's, It's endless. That doesn't even include all the friends from his music background in rock, blues, soul, country, touring bands, garage bands, recording past and present. It's endless.

Leo's last edition Norton Drag Bike

Leo finally got serious, and built this bike which was unbeatable in class back in the '80's IDBA. Leo won many awards with this bike, at the bottom his rider Allen Mueller signed. Allen held the #1 plate for a couple of years, a great honor. Back in this time frame Leo was probably the most famous name in British bike racing circles. Triumph motorcycles return was still a long way off.

Rayman Godman- Tennessee Bowevil

Picture 4024.jpg
Ray was/is a local Memphis drag racing champion. I think he's in several racing hall's of fame, NHRA for example. Ray is the one sitting down in the pic. He's also a Korean War veteren and hero. He lost both legs during that war. Standing next to him is Marshall Robilio. Marshall has been featured numerous times in this thread. Marshall was and is a good friend to Ray. They were cobuilders on some cars and at time built competing cars. Very intense. They knew each others tricks and probably all the ways they cheated to win. Competition brings out the best and worst in people.

John and Michelle's daughter was an accomplished competitive dirt bike rider back in the day. Hard to believe she's grown and gone. :thumb
