Windsheild Mounting Spacers

I've been playing around with different windshields on my R1150RT to find one that suits me. The first time I took the shield off I noticed my spacers and pads were disintegrating. To get new ones from A&S Cycles would be about $30. Seems like too much for these little bits of plastic. Has anybody else replaced the spacers and pads with non-standard bits? I'm thinking that it would be a simple trip to the hardware store for some plastic spacers and rubber washers.

Yep done that and it will work, you might have to fiddle with them to make it work. Also don't forget to look in the plumbing isle.

I went to the local fastener supply and got some thin nylon washers which work just fine. All they are doing is preventing metal to windshield contact. You could cut out your own and use a hole punch for the screw hole using old bicycle inner tube material and it would probably work.
