What have I missed (Playing Media Through TFT)?

So, I have my new 2024 GSA paired up with everything (thanks to this video Pairing to the TFT) and the phone works, my headset works properly (both with the TFT phone calls and with the Nav V) and my contacts list is there, etc., but I can't get the Media player on the TFT to work with my iPhone. I have all the latest software updates (bike, phone and headset) but all I get when I try the Media Player is a message saying "UPDATING" and that never goes away.

Is there some setting I need to make on my iPhone to get it to share media?

I've tried unpairing and then repairing the iphone, but so far, no luck. Suggestions?

Possibly a dumb question - but do you have your media app launched and running on your iPhone?

I've tried it both with the app closed and the app open (but not playing anything) and it didn't seem to make a difference - but I'll try again. Does it have to be open?

I had an issue for a while only to realize that I have to start playing the music via the TFT menu. If it’s playing while the bike is booting up, then it will pause/stop the music. I don’t know if this is your issue, but I thought I’d share this.

How many tracks do you have on your phone? And how long have you waited for the "updating" to be on the screen? There is a limit to how many tracks the bike will sync (BMW doesn't say how many) and the updating message indicates the TFT is indexing the tracks on the phone. If there are too many tracks, the updating never finishes - at least on some versions of the bike's software. On my bike (an RT) having several hundred tracks takes five minutes or so to index.

Jono, you were correct. Turns out, I has about 5,500 tracks on my phone (who knew?). Got that down to 500 and now it seems to work ok.
Thanks
