What are you listening to today?

Found this guy a year or two ago. He's won a bunch of awards and this album cover has a great motorcycle image on it. I dig it!

Here is another band, "Shook Twins", that I was heretofore unfamiliar. I set the laptop on the workbench and setup YouTube to the Shook Twins mix. This was pretty good music with which to replace the brake rotors on my oilhead. (EBC rotors work well and are much less expensive than stock replacements! Carbone Lorrain A3 replacement pads)

Normally when I service my bikes I check the brake pads, but don't often check the brake rotor thickness. I was surprised to find several bikes had rotor thicknesses below the recommended minimum. I've found EBC rotors to work well and PartsGiant.com to have good prices and fast shipping. So while replacing some rotors I found another sister band with which I was unfamiliar. "Larkin Poe" has many YouTube video songs. I put the laptop on the bench and played the mix. Following is an example from the mix -

Got thinking about this drum solo from Iron Butterfly. From 1971, starts at 8 minutes in...can't say as I've seen an eyes-closed 5-1/2 minute drum solo!! And heard on the intro that the song title was supposed to be "In the Garden of Eden" but it came out garbled...for some reason! That's how we got In a Gadda da Vida.

I spent the afternoon puttering around the garage, just cleaning up and planning my next maintenance activities. It was really a very nice day here in NC and naturally the weather in Hiawassee, Georgia was also wonderful as well. In any other year we could expect periods of heavy rain in Hiawassee and our bikes would have all the bugs washed off and rain gear would get a work-out. I missed having my steak (or chicken) cooked to my satisfaction. I am, of course, referring to the Georgia Mountain Rally that was not held this weekend. I did cook some burgers, so the chance to burn some meat wasn't completely lost.

While doing these garage and cooking activities I listened to Dustbowl Revival on Bandcamp. Their music can be enjoyed and purchased at the link below and an example video follows -

I can't believe that I'd not heard PMJ previously. There are a LOT of YouTube videos of remakes of songs. I find these much easier listening. With the laptop on the workbench I can listen to this all day. It's just sometimes I get happy feet and jump up and start to dance.

I heard this on the radio today: why haven't I heard it before?
