SW Motech tankring system for Wolfman tank bag?

My former ride was a K1200GT and I used the SW Motech system of the no contact bag ring/tank base for my tank bag. That bike is sold and the tank bag with it...I now have a 2005 R1200GS with a Wolfman Expedition Tankbag. It's fine and waterproof and large - all good points, but I'm not a fan of the four straps/clips that are designed to be used to hold it onto the tank.

Has anyone tried the SW Motech system for other brands of bags? The guy on the phone could not confirm that this had ever been done before....seems to me that it would work? Anyone else try this?

Cheers -

The base of the tank bag will need to be rigid to keep it from drooping down and touching the tank.

Yes, put a plastic plate in the bottom of a Nelson Rigg tank bag with ok results. Did a sandwich job with the plastic, one layer out and one layer in.
