Decent Tank Bag for R1250GS

Hi All,

Looking for a good waterproof tankbag that wont break the bank (say under $200.00). Does anyone have experience with this "Nelson Hurricane Adventure Tank Bag?" Any other suggestions? I'd rather stay away from the bags that have anchoring systems necessitating adding hardware to the fuel tank bung. I should add that this thing probably does not have to be very big, as I will use it only for wallet, keys, phone and ball cap (gotta have a ball cap for "helmet head"). Thanks in advance!

I’m on my second SW-Motech bag..that does require adding a tank ring to the fuel tank bung, but my tank doesnt get scratched and it’s easier to fill up.

I love my Mosko Moto Nomad now Nomax tank bag. It does duty on 6 different bikes. Simple harness the bag clips to. It is not waterproof on it's own but it does have a built in rain cover.

I had purchased a Touratech Expandable Touring Tank Bag, and didn't like the size (too big) or how it mounted with straps. So, I went with the SW-Motech's Pro Micro Tank Bag. It's just the right size for a wallet, phone, ear plugs. It's also expandable, so on longer trips you can expand the size for the additional stuff you bring. As collingsbob indicated, it does require a tank ring, which keeps it hovering above the tank. Also, the tank bag is adjustable front to back, so you can get the bag where you want it. There are a few links in this thread in the Equipment section for tank bags:

That looks like a good bag for the money. Waterproof without a rain cover is a big plus.
SW-Motech has a waterproof strap bag in a small size that may work for you.

Measure the top of the GS gas tank to see if the flat spot is long enough for either bag.

Did you see Nelson Rigg has a similar bag in a small size? 2.6 liters.

I always carry a Moto Skiveez Tri-Fold hat in my tank bag.

I think that little one may be a good option. Thanks!

Thanks All for your comments! I think I will go for one of the Nelsons. Now, while we're at it, I am set up with Vario cases and a 45L Givi top case. But I know from my old riding days, it never hurts to have a bit more capacity. How do these Rinowalk bags stack up? I was thinking about one on the pillion seat.
