It’s a nice bike, but I can’t help comparing it to a “new” K75 of 35 years ago.
Less power of course, but easy to maintain, silky smooth, shaft drive, unique design and actually made (not just “assembled”) in Germany! But, that was then.
The new 900 does look good (red wheels!) and chain drive parallel twins are what everyone else is making, so that’s what we get now. Progress, I suppose …

Is the engine made in Germany, or China?
Pretty sure it’s a Chinese Loncin.
The older 650-700-800 series F-Twin engines were made by Austrian Rotax.

The 3/36 warranty leads me to think that BMW would want things to be as “stable” as possible. Warranty claims is something nobody likes.Further, is the bike assembled/made in China or just the engine is manufactured there and shipped to Germany, etc? I'm sure the engine is great, but I don't have a good feeling with all the cheap Chinese stuff that's failed on me through the years. IMHO of course.

FWIW, Loncin builds engines for many name brands, including Toro, Cub Cadet, and Harbor Freight. Besides BMW, Loncin builds motorcycle engines for Mexico’s Italica and market their own in-house motorcycle/scooter brand Voge. And, while I think it’s pretty obvious that BMW and others source from China for cost reasons, the Loncin 800/850/900 series parallel twins seem to be holding up pretty well so far.
