I managed to drop the loose rider seat off the bike causing the wiring to separate on the connector's seat side. The wires pulled out leaving me to wonder which wires came out of which two holes. I bought a repair kit from BMW. It has the yellow wires shown here that are labelled "1" and "2" to correspond with the tiny numbers on the seat side connector. The power side connector half (shown) has one brown and one purple wire, but it does not have corresponding numbers. I can GUESS by looking closely at the connector that the brown wire is "1", but I can't be positive.
So in the interest of not frying my Russel seat, can someone electrically talented confirm which wires are which? Also, I'm not sure how the supplied splicing bits are supposed to work. The plastic tubes seem a little thick for heat shrinking, and my big hands aren't good with those little metal crimps (I guess that's what they are). So I'm going to use Posi-Locks. Much easier. And I plan to add a tether to the seat so I don't suffer from this clumsy mistake again. Thanks in advance for any enlightenment provided.
