Mirrors on R1200 GS Adventure

I want to replace my stock mirrors on my 06 R1200 GS Adventure. Anyone have any ideas or tips for me.
Thank you very much in Advance1

I did this to mine;

'07 GSAdventure and I did not like the mirrors where they were, so I bent them to where i wanted them. I took them off, heated them CAREFULLY with a torch at the existing bend and bent them down, closer to the handgaurds:). I like them now. I had to sand/repaint them, using spray can barbecue paint, which matched perfectly. I also use 2" convex dots in the mirror at the bottom edge, where i can see autos right beside me:) Plenty of mirror now. "Napoleon" is one big aftermarket mirror company and I've used their stuff before and even now on my R100/7. It has "bar end" mirrors from Napoleon. Very good stuff:) Keep looking and shopping, best regards. Randy"Polarbear":D :usa

I merged your two threads as they were the same subject in the same forum.

What don't you like about the ones you have now?

Vibration?
Placement?
Size?

Give us more info so we can make intelligent (relative term) recommendations.

R1200 GS Adventure Mirrors

I would like some mirrors that are a lot larger.

Go to your friendly local BMW dealer and get you a set of mirrors that go on a
R1200ST. I have a 2007 GS and also had to buy the "collets" that will allow the mirrors to screw into the vacated hole left by the unuable stockers. I think the 2005 & 2006 models come with these collets. The rubber grommet that covers the flats on the bolt off the original set up will work nicely if you spray a little silicone lubricant inside prior to trying to force it downwards - so no need in buying the rubbers grommets (covers) that go with the ST mirors. The difference the mirrors make in rear visibility is astounding, plus they look nice on the GS. After it's all said and done, you'll have about $100.00 bucks involved but it's probably the best $100.00 bucks that I've spent on my GS. Next go out and get yourself a hockey puck in mount it to the bottom of your side stand. Will cost about $1.00 and makes all the difference in the world getting a fully loaded and fueled GS off the side stand. Ride safely.

The GS and R mirrors are the same. I installed K1200R mirrors on my R1200R, a straight swap with no special hardware to adapt the mirror to the bike. They are wider in an oval shape and definitely add more of a rearward view, but I don't believe they have as much mirror surface as the more squared shape of the R1200ST mirrors described above.

P.S. I made the attached photo to compare them, both of which are mounted on Roadster R1200R bikes. I used photos I scarfed up from here, I think, but can't give credit for the original photos.
