what do we need to install gs type mirrors on a 2008 r1200 rt ,i know others have modified there bikes this way , thanks in advance, Jimmy

You need the GS top clamps for your clutch and brake perches. I did this to my 2013 and really like the new mirrors.

Here's what the part looks like. $52 each. I remember seeing a cheaper option on Amazon or Ebay.

Edit: Looking at the parts fiche for a 2009 RT the clamp looks like it needs to be vertical similar to this.

thanks but dont see where these would mount on the bars as they are cast aluminum perhaps a wee picture would help thanks in advance Jimmy

Hi Jimmy. Just want to be sure you are aware of the K1200RS mirror option for your RT which, I believe, is a more plug and play option than adding a GS mirror.

Unfortunately, I have nothing of value to add re: adding a GS mirror

I've seen others use the K1200RS mirrors on the RT. I wonder why they are easier than GS mirrors.
If anyone wants to use K1200RS mirrors the oval shaped mirrors from a 2002, 2003 or 2004 are better the round ones on earlier models.

No additional parts needed to mount them for one. I have no experience with the GS mirrors.

No, they're thru holes on both sides; there is a "special" nut that goes in from below.
p/n 51162328287 $13.41 (need 2) plus a pair of wave washers 51162309607 $4.35/ea.

btw.... "inbusmutter" means Allen nut... it's a "reduced" nut that uses an Allen key to install & tighten from under the perch.
If you want a K12RS mirror on the left side of an Oilhead, it's necessary to carve out a slot for the fast idle lever.

hi guys, thanks for the overwhelming information these are on my son Mark,s 1200rt so will let him decide thanks once again Jimmy
