R1100RT cb radio antenna mount

Hi, I am from Poland and I drive BMW R1100RT. I wrote about it on "Motorrad" forum but someone adviced me it will be better to write on "oilhead" forum. Maybe someone can help me and say where I can get cb radio antenna mount (located under topcase)as shown on this YT film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv625JBOFYg&t=274s.
Maybe someone has another offer or recommendation in this thema. I will grateful for any suggestion.
Greetings from Poland.
Janusz

Welcome to the forum!
I can try to help you. I couldn't tell from the video which part you are (were) looking at.......
Now to CB antennas. A 1/4 wave CB antenna with a ground plane is actually about 19 feet tall. As you work your way down to something that may be realistically mounted on a motorcycle, the performance really diminishes.......So, all you need is what is referred to as a "rubber duck" antenna and the corresponding mount. This truckers shop has an example (magnetic mount)- https://www.truckers-store.com/prod...nna-with-magnet-mount-pl259-or-bnc-connector/
When you find an antenna that you like, it's important to use all the included (matched) components from the mount to the cable to the connector. These parts are matched to electrically "fool" the radio during the transmission of the 27 megahertz radio signal. If you can, finding an antenna that the "match" (SWR) can be changed a bit will help a little.
It's real important to not cut or alter the supplied length of coax as that length is frequently figured into "fooling" the electrical spec's.
If possible, the antenna should be centered over the mass of the most steel. If it's mounted in the lid of a top case (box), running a wire to frame ground will help a little.
Good luck.

cb antenna mount

Dear Gary, thanks for your very comprehensive answer. I ment "cb radio antenna mount" only. On this short film on YT you can see piece of metal under topcase and antenna on it. I need exactly this mount or something similiar.
Greetings. Janusz

I didn't see the mount well enough to see what it was. Perhaps you can work backwards from the type (brand) of antenna that you have or the top case. The piece of metal that the antenna screws into is the least critical piece of an installation other than the larger the better :)
If you have to, you can measure the thread on the antenna an fabricate the mount.

You've right Gary. I thought it can be so popular and known in USA that someone recognize it and will tell me where I can get it.
"Do it yourself" was of course in my mind, but - if I can get any ready fabric product it is better than in blood sweat and tears made own masterpiece :)
Greetings. J.
P.S. In the "meantime" I 've got that BMW R1100RT shown on this YT film is from Japan:)

All righty, I get you now Janusz.
I'm not sure of the popularity of CB in Poland, kinda slow here. If you are going to make something for that top-box, I can recommend a piece of metal that is as large as possible glued to the top and then a mag-mount small CB antenna.

This Cobra HG A 1000 is an example-

It will give you as good a performance as can be had and with the magnetic mount- survivability when it gets "bumped" and can be moved inside the top-case when the bike needs to be covered.
I used to have a lot of fun with CB..........Hope it works for you.
Gary

Well, the music on the video was good! Love T. Rex! :dance

Yeah Kurt T. Rex :dance

cb antenna

Hi Gary, you are really very kind :) Thank you for your patience and readyness to help. I have exactly this same antenna in my car. In BMW R1100RT, especially in topcase area you have only plastic parts - that's the reason I'm looking for bracket similiar to this shown on YT. Second reason is this that I want instead cb radio antenna get 2 small flag holders something like this: https://www.google.de/search?q=flag...h=676#imgrc=65Y93fOJiX2tvM:&spf=1499243593321
My holders have in upper part marker lights also. It would be no problem to mount it on GoldWing or any chopper bike but in my BMW R1100RT I don't want make a hole in topcase, so only one possibility is to mount it under topcase, direct to topcase handle plate.
Greetings from Poland.J.

Happy to help.
I don't know enough about the accessories to know if a mount was originally available.
As we are on the same track now and you are familiar with that antenna, perhaps a "tab" off the box?

antenna mount

Hi Gary, I found something, what would be perfect, I must think about it - it is selfmade bracket.
Have a nice day. J.

Looks good Janusz. It looks like the truckers mount hardware (3/8"X24?) SAE thread with the plastic isolators. If you can, post up how it all works out :thumb

Remember this type of antenna needs metal underneath it somewhere to act as the "other half" of the circuit...more is better. These brackets would need to be metal.
