R100RS dash-rivet problem

I'm having trouble getting the inside of the dash rivets to flare. It seems they are slightly too short. Mine are the 8mm ones as specified in the fiche. I borrowed the "official" tool, and it's clear how to use it, but there's not enough on the end left to flare. I wonder if the new paint is a bit on the thick side.

Anybody else seen this problem before?

I ordered some of the 10mm-long rivets, hopefully they'll work.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

?

There’s a special tool for those rivets?
I just used a (6-32?) flat head screw with a washer and nut to re-flare and tighten loose rivets on my old RT to get rid of the dash buzzing.

As mentioned above use of black nylon bolt/washer/screw work best for remount. Unless you’re going to enter the bike for judging.

UPDATE: the 10mm rivets worked. Must be the new paint was just thick enough to make the 8mm ones too short.
