R100 Handlebars

Hi All-

I recently purchased a low-mileage ‘78 R100/7, which I believe is totally stock except for the Dyna ignition.

The handlebars seem a bit low and narrow. Are handlebars from a ‘78 R100RT an inch or two higher and wider than the stock R100 bars?

Thanks!

Tom

The R100RT handlebars are the highest widest bars with the exception of the GS bikes. The RS being the lowest narrowest followed by S and /7 bars. I don't believe there was a 78 RT in existence, I always thought the RT line started with the 79 Year bikes. I could be wrong?

I am not sure but you may have to change cables and switch harnesses? A look at Max's microfiche or a BMW parts fiche, comparing part numbers will help. Good luck, St.
