Question RE: 5 Series Horn on R1250RS

I have installed the BMW 5-Series Car horn on both my GS and RT and love it. So easy. I have 2 buddies who are new RS owners and I suggested the same horn upgrade to them but wanted to check if anyone else has done this on an RS?? Thanks in advance.

I did not add a BMW 5 series horn, but I did install a car horn to my R1200RS. The stock horn and car horn are mounted together back to back on the same bracket, with the new horn on top. There isn't much room, but it fits. I added a relay as well to drive the horns. The relay is zip tied on to the top horn. Sorry no pictures.

Managed to find this older thread but about installing 5-series horns. Might want to see what was done back then just FYI.

Thanks! I have videos of the 5 Series horn install on the RT and GS both liquid cooled. Was just checking to see if anyone has done that install on the RS since it is such an improvement in loudness and truly plug and play ... no relay ... no splicing. Since it's a BMW horn even the connector is the same. So basically one bolt and done. And was checking for 2 buddies who just got RS's

Ed do you have a part number for the horn you used on your RT?

Bernie ... there are 2 horns that folks are using ... the BMW OEM part # is 61338381271 and there is an aftermarket one that is less made by Clarton. I used the OEM BMW horn in both my bikes and it was about $59. The aftermarket horn is about $25. I wanted to be safe and when with the BMW OEM item. Even though it is a car part any BMW motorcycle dealer can order it for you. My dealer here in Charlotte actually keeps them in stock. I bet Randy would bring one to Blairsville for you :D

Here is the link for the aftermarket horn

Oops ... just remembered ... like me you are missing START this year too so you won't be in Blairsville.
