Phoenix BMW Service

I'm looking for the best BMW warranty service in the Phoenix area, and would appreciate comments private or public.

You can't beat MotoGhost. Although they are 'independent' I believe they can do warranty work. Give 'em a call. GoAZ, the Scottsdale dealer, is also quite good, but expensive if you are paying. I've had really bad experiences at the Chandler dealership, but many years ago, so I don't know about them now.

The Place to Go

It sounds like MotoGhost is my kind of shop. Their website mentions that they do just about everything, but they can't get paid from BMW for warranty or recall service. For the rear flange work, I guess I'll be riding to Scottsdale. No cracks in my OEM flange...yet. I've done all the service work to date and I follow the book for torque values.

MotoGhost is a respected shop. Can't say the same re the two BMW Motorcycle stores in Phoenix. (Scottsdale and Chandler) There is quite a number of us that will go down to Iron Horse in Tucson for service and warranty work. It is not that far of a ride. You might wish to call them and get an appointment. They are pretty busy this time of year. They do good work, and extremely friendly.

Motoghost doesn't or can't do warranty work. It's either GOAZ or Victory BMW. I've gone to both for warranty and recall work. I prefer Victory. They don't wash the bike, but they aren't in such a rush because of flat rate pressure so as to screw up.

I will never, ever do business with Victory. They screwed me 7 ways to Sunday and cost me thousand of dollars. Most disreputable dealer I have ever had the displeasure of having a transaction with. And I was in the business for 12 years and know what I'm talking about. Anyone who wants the details feel free to send me a PM.

Whatever you do, stay away from Victory or for that matter any of the RideNow dealerships.

I have had mostly good dealings with GoAZ but they are like most Mega dealers, ya gotta watch em.

Seems that RideNow and Parsons own a lot of dealers around here. I think the BMW dealer in Tucson may be independent, but I don't know for sure. That said, there's not a lot of choice for BMW. HD, yes. For me, I had something fixed at GOAZ and the tech was in such a rush, he didn't put it back together the way it was before. There's too much pressure to make time there and that's the way a lot of shops run. Oh well.

No it is not Oh well. It is Oh, that sucks. Owners sometimes are captives of crappy dealers but we ought not need to like it.

It is not that long of a ride from Fountain Hills to Iron Horse in Tucson. Iron Horse is not a mega dealer. Good people, easy to talk to, and you can watch your bike being worked on and even talk with the tech if desired. Try that at Victory, you would be thrown in chains and dragged out of the shop.
I purchased my first BMW from them, brought it to them for service until they cost me an engine. Never again. I avoid even driving down the street in front of the place.
My experience with Go Az is mostly via phone. Like talking to the wall and the wall has more intelligence. Not even worth riding up to purchase a part.
Everyone has an opinion, but in our group it is either MotoGhost or Iron Horse.

The thing is that Motoghost can't do warranty or recall work. As far as Tucson goes, what happens if the bike has to stay because something didn't go right? Just thinking of all possibilities.

So we are stuck for a good independent dealer here in the Phoenix area for warranty work, I have had work done at Victory with no issues they treat you fairly and the counter guys seem to know there stuff. I bought my new BMW from GOAZ because a friend was working there at the time, but I never get a really good vib from them. Moto ghost for non warranty is the the go to shop.

Service work in Tucson is not that bad. If the bike needs to stay for an extra day or two, we have shuttled many of us to/from the dealer from the Phoenix area. Was living in Yuma and going to IH for service. If the bike needed to stay my then wife would provide a ride back. It is only 235 miles one way. Or, we have used Enterprise RAC if needed. Living in the Phx area now, it has not been an issue. I have provided rides down to IH for someone to pick up their bike, and people have done the same for me. I have had two occasions when I used a trailer to move the bike and leave it for service. When ready, a club member shuttled me down to retrieve it. There are not that many BMW motorcycle dealers around the country so for many people a 90 mile one way ride would be a great benefit.
In my former life, I was in the automobile business and if a car/truck was in the shop for more than one day for warranty repairs, a rent car was provided paid for by the manufacturer. I don't think I will live long enough to see that in the motorcycle business.

If I had to ride down to tucson and leave it, that would be an inconvenience to my wife as I have five kids too. Just saying and with the extra expense of renting a car, why bother in that case. Sometimes it's just easier to bite the bullet and hope for the best.

I will add to the discussion with my two cents. However as a relatively new BMW motorcycle owner it may only be worth that....

Victory sold me my initial BMW and promised me several things. When I returned and wanted the promised deals I was flatly denied. My good friend had the same thing happen as well.

GoAZ sold me the next used BMW and I am happy with the bike. I am disappointed in it missing a tool kit and the seats are not matched to the electric heat plugs. Small matter. However the finance department has just further convinced me that I should always save up and buy things outright.

As another poster stated feel free to PM me for more clarification.

After the impressions from the sales department I was too wary to use either shop for repairs behind closed doors. Went to MotoGhost and promptly removed my warranty as I felt comfortable that they would treat me fairly and help maintain a quality motorcycle. The total cost of the warranty would likely offset one major malfunction and frankly there's a reason warranty businesses exist... and it's not because they save you money. Set some aside each month and you can pay for what breaks with a repair department like MotoGhost instead of being chained to another business of dubious character.

Best of luck to you whatever you decide.

I Called Iron Horse But...

I called Iron Horse on Tuesday, getting a recorded, service phone message saying they would call me back. They didn't. Called again Friday, listened to same message, then called Victory in Chandler. Talked to a real person. Knowledgeable, friendly, and set the appointment. We'll see how it goes.

Iron Horse service manager returned my call later in the same day. He apologized for the lapse in customer service. He was away for training and the backup staff slept through the procedures. Life trundles on...

Victory BMW Service in Phoenix...

Just rode back after the rear flange recall service. Excellent shop. Excellent showroom. Nice folks. Quick work. Wheel didn't fall off on the ride home. What more can you ask?

GOAZ or Victory?

I'd ask for doughnuts and coffee, but that's me. :)
