Ordering helmet online

Any recommandation for ordering helmets (Shoei) online, first in Canada (where I am) or USA?

Thank you

At the track where I ride, you can't use a helmet with a date code older than 5 years. I see a lot of helmets on shelves with up to 3 years on them already.

So my advice is to stipulate that the helmet be no more than 6 months old. If it is older than that, I'd refuse to buy it. If they can't give you that guarantee, then I'd buy it from a local store since you can check the date code before you hand over the money.

Date codes are hidden, but easy to find under the liner, on the strap, etc.

I think that newer Shoei helmets are covered 5 years from the date it is sold,or
7 years from the manufacture date.

nothing wrong with ordering online, but be sure of your size. different makes of Helmets fit differently. do you have a Shoei head or a Nolan head or something in between. most all brands have a size chart on line....

I've picked up two Arai's off eBay in the past two years; each of them for about 50% of typical Canadian retail. There are several helmet retailers with eBay stores.

The one I got in January included free shipping to Canada. Couldn't go wrong.

Helmet

I did alot of price compairing online and the best price I found was with Parts411.com . I got a Shoei Multitech at Around $85 cheaper than the next best price!

One of the helmets I have been thinking about, The new Shoei RF1100 in Axis
Yellow is $302 at the Helmet Shop, compared to $420 at Parts411.

You might pick one up at a bike show, as I did.

Great price and a cash deal includes the taxes if you ask.

One word of caution though.....be sure to look inside under the padding for the mfg. date. Bike show blowout helmets are almost always last years stock (which is still ok) but I have found helmets that were up to 4+ years old. By that point the foam is starting to age and may be affected by temperatures where it has been stored.
Distributors often sell off end of season helmet stock at give away prices to Dealers. Depending on the quantity or popularity some of these lids are already 3 years old before the consumer tries them on at the show.

I don't know where you are in Canada, but the Helmet Outlet in North Idaho will let you take a helmet out for a test ride before you buy. They also have an Internet store.

You should go down to your local dealer and waste a bunch of his time talking about features and benefits & to get the size right before going home and ordering it.

Don't bitch & moan about a lack of dealers and then run to a mail order place to save $50 every chance you get.
