One of the greatest joys of living in the Big Bend of Texas is the people you meet.

Alex Whitmore is just one example.

Hi Folks,
Let me take a minute of your time. There is a clear channel radio
station in San Antonio (you know the ones we hate because they never
play indie artists) It is called the outlaw 92.5 FM. They do play
Texas artists like Pat Green, Corry Morrow and others, but they have
record labels.
To give the appearance of catering to the indie artist they have a
"new artist" submission where you send an mp3 of the song in and if
they like it, they will post it on the "new" page...that doesn't mean
it will get played on air. Here is where you come in.
I posted my song "Daddy let me Drive" and it was posted on the "New"
if it gets enough hits it could rise to the top and have a chance to
be played on air. Here is the link

The song must play all the way through to be counted. There is no
limit on the number of plays. Thanks for your help. Let's show
clear channel that there are plenty of people that would like to hear
more indie artists.
In other news, I continue to play shows in the virtual world of
Second Life. I'm getting bookings around the country from people who
hear me there. You don't have to be in Second Life to hear the shows.
They are posted on my web site http://alexwhitmore.com as venues.
You just click on the venue and if I am playing during the posted
time, you should be able to listen. Don't give up, sometimes the
stream will change at the last minute and I don't have time to update
the web site. I play 3 days a week day and evening shows so you
should be able to find one that fits in your schedule.
I have real life shows coming up too in Fredricksburg, Kerrville,
Cleveland Oh, Key West Fl and looking for more. If you have a venue
near you or would like to sponsor a small concert (or a large one)
just let me know.
Thanks for your time, Alex

Re: greatest joys

Voni,

Your friend should contact the local college radio station, KSYM 90.1. They have a show called Third Coast Music Network daily and they play lots of local SA artists. He might be able to get some airtime there. They're non commerical and, IMHO, play much better Americana type music than any of the commerical stations. Here's thier web site and it has contact info, http://www.tcmnradio.com/.

.... listened. Where is Denon, Texas.? Couldn't find it on my map. Did he mean to write Denison in the bio? Expect we'll hear similar tunes as we roll in to visit the Gene Autrey museum in Gene Autrey, Tx. (which is near Denison). -Bob "](40 days and counting 'til big trip)

I think they meant Denton Tx. North of Dallas Fort Worth.

Hey Voni

One of the most enjoyable radio stations I ever listened to was a couple of years ago when I was driving from
Big Bend National Monument to Terlingua. Call letters were KYOT as I recall . . . a most wonderfully ecclectic playlist, and no DJ yakkety Yak.
