New Panjo Marketplace Feedback Thread

GSAddict -

Just curious...what browsers and versions of those browsers are you using? Maybe you've mentioned it before...I don't remember. As I said, I don't think it as much about the operating system (XP or Linux) as it is about the browser.

Firefox.

I'm using Firefox Version 40.0.2214.111, but I've also got the latest IE and it fails too. It's not a browser issue, the page loads about 1/3 of the time for me. It's not a cookie issue, I've tested that too. I looked at the code, to me it looks like the iframe holding the Panjo content is timing out.

A busy Panjo server seams to mean our Flea Market doesn't load.

3Putt, you have identified the issue and echoed my posts about it not being a browser issue but the mods will continue to suggest that as they have nothing else to offer. Panjo has identified the problem as being a connection issue between the forum server and their server but I am not sure I buy that either. The forum admin Ted Moyer has not weighed in on the subject and we seem to be at his mercy. I as a new member am highly disappointed in how this issue has been handled and have no hope at this point that it will improve any time soon. I hope someone proves me wrong for the sake of the other members.

OM, that wasn't meant to be derogatory, just stating the facts. Sorry if it came across that way. I appreciate what you do as a mod.

I have my own theories as to what or where the problem lies- and they have been presented. I don't think that any of the ideas of making things rum more "seamless" have been discounted but a lot of the posts/complaints refer to "the old f/m" or ADV doesn't have this problem which is not surprising as it is not the same. It's is even a lot to wade through to try to figure how members are trying to access the f/m- through the 4 categories in the forum (it doesn't work that way), through the "button" from the forum or from the MOA home page. It is a lot to sort out.

Yes it is a lot to sort out but because of a lack of communication (not by mods but by those in charge of the vbulletin host server) we don't even see anyone collecting data to try and sort it out. Communication from that level would go a long way to easing the frustration experienced by some of your users.

My guess would be the majority of users just click the flea market "button" at the top of the forum like I do. As I have said many times all of my testing is done with the latest versions of different platforms of fully patched OS's and browsers during all hours of the day and night and I continue to have random timeouts loading the flea market page on all of them. With that in mind updating your OS or browser (while good advice overall) isn't necessarily going to fix the issue. Panjo has said it is a connection issue between the forum host server and theirs. If that were the case then I would expect everyone to experience the issue sooner or later but as far as I can tell some people never have a problem loading it which is why I am hesitant to accept that as the definitive answer.

To be clear the problem with it not loading doesn't bother me much. I was just trying to help you guys get it sorted out. What does bother me is the lack of communication from those in charge. As a new member that is not doing much to instill confidence in this organization for me.

Remember when you wanted to look at ads posted?
Remember when you wanted to post an ad?
Remember when the flea market was user friendly?
Remember when you had a problem and got assistance in a timely fashion?

That was the past.

I visited the new Panjo forum a few weeks ago and couldn't access it. From my Iphone and also my home computer. Same today. Three times. I have an item to sell and can't do it here.

I don't know what we are paying for this 'new' setup, but it isn't working. Get the bugs out before you trot it out.

Its stuff like this that loses members.

Just another data point: it worked fine this morning, and it again works now on my android tablet ( android 5.0.2), with chrome 39.0.2171.59.
Amazon on the other hand is loading super slow.

Is 'our' server just one machine, or some load balancing local cluster thing, or are we distributed geographically?
The behavior could also depend on whether somebody's ISP tries to cache things.

New PanjoMarketplace

Has anyone had trouble with the new interface? I continue to have trouble with it not loading on my iPad and iPhone, appeals to MOA and PanjoMarketplace have gone unanswered.

We are installing a new Linux based server to power the forum and Marketplace tonight. This will replace an older Windows server that is believed to be the issue for the slow response times. This change should also mean improved performance of the forum and more flexibility to support the forum going forward.

I don't know that tonight's install makes Panjo a perfect solution, but I hope it will eliminate the vast majority of the complaints so far with slow load times, category searches and most everything that has been addressed here. About the only thing that won't be affected is the issue with access via older browsers, such as IE8/9. I do know we needed to make the change regardless and it will provide a better platform for the forum in general.

I can appreciate the frustration levels and the calls to correct it. It frustrates me as well that members have difficulty or are unhappy with our performance. I take those things personally. If it were an easy solution, it would be done already. There are more issues and decision factors than what is discussed here and there simply isn't enough time to reveal and discuss everything on these pages.

I'm not looking for sympathy or a free pass. It is simply a statement that no one on the staff side is happy with the performance either, but available solutions have not been plentiful. We will keep working at it until we have a working solution that is palatable to the group.

Ted

Ted, that is great news and I appreciate your efforts. Will be praying it resolves all these issues. I don't think your members need lots of feedback on your efforts but I do think an occasional assurance that it was being worked on would have gone a long way.

Wow, a lot of issues.

Thanks for moving my message over, didn't realize there was another forum for non-bike topics.
