New Pan America model

H-D just announced additional 2025 models. They have a new Pan America called the 1250ST. It is a street oriented version of the bike, slightly lower suspension, 17 inch wheels with auto height reduction now standard for 20K base. Wouldn't mind BMW doing the same thing to the GS.

For the company’s sake I hope they do well, but I think outsourcing to Asia for obvious increased profitability cheapens the brand. That’s just my personal opinion, of course.

The windshield looks as useful as sunblock in a sauna.
That screen is only meant to protect the beenie cap helmets that are so popular among the Harley crowd. If they won't wear any protective gear to protect the rest of their bodies, why would they want to protect their face from the elements?

I own a 2021 Pan America and have to say it is a phenomenal machine. The Pan America ST should be a big seller but since it's being sold at HD dealers it won't be. Try as they may they just can't move much beyond anything other than a cruiser.

They do look better in person than in the ad pics.
But I do NOT understand this "minimalist" front fender thing (on so many bikes).

Harley bet their life on a particular type/style/attitude of motorcycle and they will always suffer for it. I have seen a total of 2 Pan Americas on the road. I dont' expect to see alot more.

Saw a Pan American twice in the wild. Both at the same time getting gas as I pulled in for same. Spoke with both who absolutely loved their machines. This was in a tiny little town in the middle of nowhere in South Dakota [ 2023 ].

Those motors seem to trend to the "shark nose" models Harley makes in their road glides. Not a fan of those shark noses, I'd not be a buyer.

I have seen one year old Pan Ams trade in values at $8,000-$9,000. Harley is not holding its value.
They are definitely NOT holding their value. I see plenty around here selling for between 10.5k to 11.5k then up. IMO, unless you plan on keeping one basically forever it's not a good value

I have chatted with two different Pan America owners and both loved their bikes. One has gone all the places a GS has and done well.
The above comment about Harley and only cruisers not adventure bikes can be said about BMW staying away from cruisers, in my opinion.

I test rode one when they first came out. Admittedly, I sit tall in the saddle, but even with the windscreen up I was getting blown all over the place. Terrible wind protection for tall folks, IMO. It was a little tight in the knees for me too. Engine has the beans though.

I’ve owned 3 Harley’s. For what they are, I have no complaints. I knew however that the GS has always been the bike for me, that’s why I am a repeat customer. I do think a 117 Street Glide may be a retirement bike for me, however. Street Glides handle well. It’s getting a bit hard to throw my leg over the GS and in 4 years, it may be too much. But if we’re talking dual sports, there is no other. The Pan America, Meh.

I find it amusing that anyone owning a BMW would talk about poor resale value of another brand.
Why do you find it amusing? ALL motorcycles depreciate but not at the rate the Pan America has. Over 50% in 4 years or 3 years? that's worse than any well treated BMW GS's I've seen. We're talking ADV bikes, not cruisers like the R18 that has a worst depreciation rate than the Pan America
