Perfect timing I guess, if I can get my newly acquired R75/5 up and running this week I may meet some of you folks in Redmond this weekend. I'm a long time admirer of classic BMW motorcycles but this is my first.

Here are a couple photos of the new ride, The original tank is going back on and I have some tuning and service to attend to before she's road-ready again. I look forward to learning more about these bikes and exploring this forum a bit. Glad to have finally joined the BMW club!

:D -Paul

I think she looks good next to my daily-driver!

Your daily driver is a 2002?!? Very cool! :bow That's more impressive than the R75/R! What year models, and how many miles are on both machines?

Great pic of the two side by side, BTW.:thumb

Thanks Grant. I've had the '02 for about 6 years now, its a great car but showing its age. I'm not sure on the mileage, it shows 40K but that may be 140, 240, 340 ??? you know how BMWs are! I have another engine that I'm building to replace the tired original but that will probably become a winter project, gotta get some riding in now that summer has finally arrived here in the Pacific Northwest.

The R75 shows just 31,000 miles and judging by the overall condition I think that may be actual but at 40 years old I wouldn't bet on it. In any case the bike seems to be very solid, I've been working on it the past several evenings after work and when I had the valve covers off I was pleased that the engine internals looked clean as a whistle, all the fluids came out clean as well with no metal or dirt visible.

Tonight I'm planning to take it for a ride, got my new plates and insurance cards yesterday so I'm pretty excited. I'll take some more photos if I get the opportunity.

On a side note, aside from the "flea market" section of this site, which I have explored, does anyone know of a good online classified or parts resource for these older BMWs? I'm hoping to find some parts and sell or trade some of the extras I got with this motorcycle.

Thanks all. -Paul

Try the IBMWR Market Place (LINK).

Welcome to the Forum. Congratulations on your new bike. And you definitely have great timing. Try to make or to the Rally. Sure wish I could have gone this year.

Hope you enjoy your new bike.

Nice bike Paul. I just love those R 75s. I've been wanting to get one myself. Enjoy your ride.
