I started my motorcycling adventures with British bikes in the '70s. A 69 Triumph 650 and then a '74 750 Norton Commando. I went years without riding until the
'90s when I got a 76 R75/6. My new wife took to it and we rode for years around eastern NC. Nothing major as she was not into touring. But we had a lot of fun and I was surprised she took to so well. As she aged and developed ailments we decided our riding days were over and parted with bike. She passed away a few years ago and I've decided to get some riding in while I still have a chance. I recently purchased a very well maintained 75 R90/6 so this is like home to me. I'm retired but doubt I'll do much long distance riding, just going to enjoy the wind in my face. Looking forward to all the good info in the forums. I'll post some pics soon.

Welcome from central Florida. I started my riding on Triumphs as well and had friends with Nortons and BSAs back in the 70s. Enjoy your new ride.

Welcome to the forum. In addition to the ABC, there is an MOA charter club with a lot of members and activities in the Triangle area. BMW NC Tarheel Travelers, https://www.tarheelbmw.org/

There is also a FB group, North Carolina Airheads.

I'm in the Piedmont Triad. Get in touch if you want to ride the twisty roads in the southern piedmont area.

Welcome from Vancouver Island.

Willkommen Mr darkstar73; sorry for the loss of your beloved pillion!

I too started my M/C journey on a ’71 Bonneville [co-signed by my father]. I’m absolutely sure you’ll connect with some Airheads in your area; that would be good for everyone involved. Mrs-HSV is the Alabama Airmarshal, and she {like me} is always in Recruit mode. I just hosted the AlaBeemer’s 2nd Saturday Ride-2-Eat {which was a resounding Success with >35 attendees on a balmy February day}. Since our transition to north Alabama, we’ve also been welcomed into the North Alabama Vintage M/C Club [FB:NAVMC], and we’re very appreciative of that random encounter some seven years ago.

So get out there and enjoy your newest Beemer and make some new friendships. That’s what it's all about after all -- Socializing & Riding hither & yon. :thumb

Happy Trails whenever U can on your /6

Welcome from another rider who started on Brit bikes. Welcome back to riding too! I'm sorry for your loss. Post up a picture of your new ride. (y)

Another local to Raleigh option:
I hope we’ll see you at one of our loosely organized lunches.
