I just bought my first BMW, a 2005 R1200RT. That's a Hexhead, right? It has the small top box, ESA, and the mount for the Navigator IV. I would very much like to get the GPS and the tank-bag that clips to the tank rack. They cost how much?!
I swear, I only went to the dealer to ask questions. I didn't even take my gear or my checkbook so that I wouldn't be tempted.
It didn't turn out as I planned.
Those clever salesmen had helmets, jackets and gloves to lend me. In case my wife asks, I honestly forgot that a debit card was the same as a check.
Now my 1989 GL1500 Gold Wing will go to somebody with the patience to fix the surging and stalling. I bought it new 260,000 miles ago and hope my Beemer (is it capitalized?) lasts a long time too.
I have not ridden in Michigan, Hawaii, or Alaska; I've ridden in the other states and 3 Canadian provinces. I'm looking forward to learning about the bike and if there are any tips to making it run reliably for many miles.
I pick it up tomorrow afternoon. Until then, I'll read the rider's manual a couple of more times.
