Mounting a GPS on an R100RS

HI,
i just bought a Garmin 2610 with their motorcycle kit and i would like to mount it on my RS. I do not think the handle bars is going to be a good option since they are short and will interfere with the fairing when turning. My thoughts are to mount it on the fairing console, to the left of the voltmeter...or on the tank bag...
If I mount it on the fairing, what mounting brackets did anyone use to connect up to the Garmin holder? Should i go with a different holder system?
So far, the Ram mount looks like it would work.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Light Duty Plastic

The dash plastic is very light duty for mounting anything. On my silver bike I installed an accessory plug, and the plastic split from the tension of the ring nut. On my black bike I shaped a brass plate to fit into the smooth recesse in the pebble finish plastic. I made an oversize doubler for the back of the dash, of the same brass, to sandwich the plastic. Then I drilled the brass, melted holes through the plastic, and fitted small brass screws to hold it all together. Prior to the final installation cut a piece of fiberglass matting to match the back side doubler, coated it with resin and screwed the whole thing together. All this just for an accessory plug. There is little or no flex, and no stress point point to eventually crack the plastic. I don't know squat for GPS. I can't picture the size or shape of that gadget or its mounting, but what ever you do you will never be sorry if you overbuild its mounting points.

i saw a friend's rs this past weekend with a ram mount system. it had the gps right above the key in the center of the bars. it sat rather low, but it was in a good spot considering the rs riding position.
sorry i dont have a pic.
