Motorrad Museums in Germany?

My wife and I are traveling to Germany after Christmas to visit our daughter, son-in-law, and new grand-daughter (hopefully she arrives while we're there!). They live in Plauen, which is about half way between Nuremburg and Leipzig. We're going to be there a month and I was wondering if anyone knew of some really cool motorcycle museums or something related not far from there. I'm doing some searching on the internet and I'll ask my son-in-law (who is from Plauen) also, but I wondered if any of you might have some knowledge of some not very well publicized place? I don't know how much we'll be able to travel since the purpose is to welcome our new grand-daughter. But any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Hi Tom,
We just returned from Europe and while in Germany we visited the BMW museum in Munich. Susie and I sat on a demo RT and as a result we just bought a 2018 R1200RT LC for two up riding. I've been riding it regularly and really like it. Hoping your time in Germany is memorable.

Bill

Thanks Bill! I knew you and Susie would have a great time over there. Munich's a bit further south than I can probably get to on this trip. But I've heard of the museum there. Plus there's the BMW factory in Berlin that I'd love to visit, but I suspect that will be a follow-on trip. On a separate thread I've talked about a project bike I bought last month: 1976 R75/6 that I'm in the slow process of restoring. I'm writing a log of the project and taking stills and video of it. I'll probably make a separate area on my website to provide a way to show people my progress. It's going to be a lot of work, but it'll be worth it when finished.

The Tecknik Museum Sinsheim is about 3 hours SW of Plausen. If you're flying into Frankfurt, much closer or "on the way." A fantastic place.

Their sister museum, Speyer, is a bit further away, also fantastic.

The Audi museum in Ingolstadt is about 2 hours from Plausen.

And the NSU museum in Neckarsulm is very close to the Audi museum.

Have fun!

x2 for the BMW Museum / BMW Welt in Munich for next time. Lots of bikes, cars, and at least one truck there. Even my wife liked it (and she’s not a car/bike person)!
