BMW GROUP REPORTS OCTOBER SALES
11/01/2006

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - November 1st, 2006... The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI brands combined) reported year-to-date sales of 254,297 vehicles, an increase of 1.2 percent above the 251,276 vehicles sold in the first ten months of 2005. October sales were off 4.6 percent, with the Group reporting 24,464 vehicles verses the 25,635 reported in 2005.

BMW Brand Sales

BMW brand sales were up 2.2 percent year-to-date, to 220,885 vehicles compared to 216,063 vehicles sold in the same period in 2005.

BMW brand sales were down 7.2 percent in October for a total of 20,822 vehicles compared to 22,432 reported in the same month a year ago.

Monthly BMW brand sales reflect the dips that occur when high volume models undergo a structured changeover, with smaller numbers of the previous model and a gradual increase in availability of the new model. All BMW 3 series models received new engines this fall and the company also introduced an all new 3 Series Coupe in September. In addition, BMW's Sports Activity Vehicles are receiving significant changes. An all-new 2007 X5 Sports Activity Vehicle will be introduced at the end of the month and a new 2007 X3 SAV is just arriving at dealerships. As a result of these introductions, inventories of these models have been kept low.

BMW Automobile Sales
Year-to-date, sales of BMW brand automobiles were up 8.9 percent, to 172,991 automobiles over 158,904 in the same period of 2005. Monthly automobile sales dipped 7.5 percent in October to 17,466 cars versus 18,889 in the same month a year ago.

BMW Sports Activity Vehicle Sales
Sales of BMW Sports Activity Vehicles were off 5.3 percent in October, to 3,356 vehicles over the 3,543 sold in the same month last year. Year-to-date, sales of BMW Sports Activity Vehicles were down 16.2 percent, to 47,894 vehicles compared to the 57,159 sold in the same period in 2005.

Certified Pre-Owned
Sales of BMW's Certified Pre-Owned vehicles were down 8.1 percent in October, with sales of 5,385 CPO vehicles versus 5,861 vehicles reported last year. Year-to-date, CPO sales were up 13.4 percent, to 69,427 over the 61,241 reported in the same period in 2005.

MINI Brand Sales
MINI Automobiles
MINI USA reported a 13.7 percent jump in October sales, to 3,642 cars compared to 3,203 cars sold in the same period a year ago. Year-to-date, the division reported sales of 33,412 automobiles, a drop of 5.1 percent, compared to the 35,213 cars reported in the first ten months of 2005.

NOTE: The press release was silent to the number of motorcycle sales. M1ka

BMW M AWARD 2006 GOES TO AMERICAN MOTOGP RIDER NICKY HAYDEN
11/01/2006

First prize of a BMW Z4 M Coup?® for the fastest qualifier of the current season.
Munich. MotoGP pilot Nicky Hayden from the USA has won this year's BMW M Award and takes home his first prize of a BMW Z4 M Coup?®. BMW M has supplied this attractive motor car as the prize for the rider in the motorcycle Grand Prix achieving the fastest average qualifying time over all 18 training heats held throughout the 2006 MotoGP season. The president of BMW M GmbH, Professor Ulrich Bruhnke, presented Nicky Hayden with his new BMW Z4 M Coup?® at the final heat of the season in Valencia, Spain.

Not only does BMW M organise the BMW M Award with its two car prizes, one awarded at the beginning and one at the end of each MotoGP season, but since 1999, it has also been supplying the official fleet of safety cars, in the form of two 507 bhp BMW M5 and M6 models, a further four service vehicles, and the staff cars for the MotoGP organisation. The MotoGP races attract an average of 300 million television spectators throughout the world and up to 250,000 spectators watching the events unfold live.

Before Valencia: 6.6 ahead of the next-placed rider in the Qualifier

Nicky Hayden, the Kentucky Kid, as he is often referred to, has had an excellent season in the MotoGP 2006. Taking all the qualifying rounds into account, he has ended the year a total of 6.6 seconds ahead of his compatriot, Colin Edwards. In previous years, the difference between the first and second placed riders was generally no more than two seconds.

The BMW photograph enclosed shows Nicky Hayden (right/left) being presented with the keys to his BMW Z4 Coup?® from Professor Ulrich Bruhnke, president of BMW M GmbH.

The Pit Crew View: Racing News:

Motorcyle Daily asks the question, ÔÇ£What It Takes To Win A MotoGP World ChampionshipÔÇØ. In the last paragraph of the article they focus the various issues related to fielding a team in relationship to a championship. Has BMW looked at itself and found themselves coming up wanting and so has decided not to field such a team?

Good morning read. Especially liked story about Frank Bauman

"Despite Frank's advancing years and the lateness with which he turned to motorcycling, this isn't his first long distance trip."

Previously rode from Turkey to Cian in China. :clap
