Mixing Tires

I just bought a 1977 R75/7 and need to replace the rear tire. The bike currently is shod with a good front Metzler ME77A (40% left) and a dead ME99A.

I've been reading good reviews on the Michelin Macadam 50.

What is the consequences of putting a 50 on the rear and running the 77 on the front?

TIA

KC,
I think you'll be OK with the Michelin Mac 50 rear. 4.00 X 18 is still available. When you are ready for a front, the Mac 50E is still available in the proper 3.25 X 19 too.
I ran a Mac 50 rear with an ME77 front on my R100RS for a few hundred miles before my new front tire came in. No problems at all.

HTH,
Mick

Tire threads bring out the KooK in all of us. Personally, I'd consider offing a 40% front unless I installed it originally. There's nothing like a new set of skins. For what it's worth, I'm running a set of Dunlop 491's on a 750. Love 'em. Easily the most wear resistant tires I've ever used.
