map software?

Can anyone recommend software for printing paper maps? I'm not buying a GPS for now, and have a tank bag with a map window.

I've tried google maps, but really don't like the limited route drawing tools. I was wondering if Garmin RoadTrip (mac) would be useful for this if I bought the map unlock.

Really what I want to do is draw a route and then print a nice map that I can follow while on the bike. Seems like everything is geared for GPS.

Microsoft Streets and Trips is a pretty good program. I use it in conjunction with garmin's Mapsource for planning trips.

Streets and Trips works well, but it's difficult to get a print of a large map will any detail. When you print the map, you will have to play around with the pixel count of the jpg file to get acceptable resolution.
