Luggage rack adapter for 2005 R1150RT to use newer top case than the 33L?

Greetings, the oem 33L top case is sufficient for packing things but I cannot put my Neotec in it and close the lid, leaving me to either clip it to the bike or carry it around...annoying, lol. My friend has a smaller, taller case from a 2007 1200 I think that is higher and will allow me to lock up the helmet. I know there are Givi options, etc, but has anyone managed to fab an adapter that will allow newer, larger top cases to fit on the oem rack? Or, has anyone managed to install a different rack to do the same? Thanks!
