i just got this 22L top case set on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-K100-LT...I02wp8XXADLP92F003bjM%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

my bike has a 'virgin' tail so i need all of that stuff i feel like i got a pretty good deal at around $150 for the lot.

the top case lid is painted metallic brown and it has a grey back rest. it looks like a dealer spare-parts special to me.. but if i can get the lid re-painted classic black metallic it will match my bike and my side cases. (still trying to figure out if the grey back rest will look cool or not.)

does anyone have a ballpark what it will cost and more importantly a source for me to get the lid re-painted? i can send it out or whatever. (my bike has a few scratches in it so i would also like some touch up paint)

I'm more into the luggage rack than the top case so if it is gonna be a spluge to have it painted nice, might just plasti-dip it black (or if you have a better idea....)

on the fiche at max a new lid black lid is $88 and a new black backrest is $110 (lol)

That's a fantastic deal you got there. I've seen the mounting plate go for that much. I'd just get some good rattle can spray, but that's just me.

No idea about paint cost. I'd personally do it myself with truck bed liner but ....

The case originally came off of one of the early brown colored K100LT bikes of the late '80s.

Find local body shop who paint small jobs.
I think they would do it, as they finish a job and need fill in work.

Cost will be on time and materials. Ask them if you can do prep work to save on the cost.

Is truck bed liner and Plasti-Dip the same?

Thanks all for the suggestions.. looking forward to get the top case next week. I am sure i will just fly it fugly for a while.

Can someone point me to the truck bed liner stuff? is it the same as plasti-dip?

Tips for Drilling holes for tail rack?

I have taken apart a K tail before and I've read a bit about how to do it.. but any tips or pointers on drilling the holes for the rack would be appreciated.

I know to tape over the drill bit exit area... just nervous about messing up and getting the holes 'crooked' when i drill it.

Do a search for: Duplicolor Truck Bed Liner

Here is one of many results: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&ke...vptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_3bfgaf580h_b

I did the expanded fuel tank and Harley FLH trunk on my K75 with Duplicover brand in the spray can. It worked well.
