Leaky Oil Filler Plug

A year ago, my ‘04 R1150R (with 38K miles) developed a leak around the oil filler plug. I replaced both the plug and the ring in the cylinder, along with the o-rings. Just this last weekend, it started leaking again. Before replacing them again, I did a search regarding the Hornig filler plug, which seems to be similar in function to the OEM plastic plug. I also found a post about replacing the inner fitting’s o-ring with a harder compound ring from Viton (http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/orings.shtml). First, have others run into what appears to be a recurring problem and found a solution. Second, does anyone have any experience with either the Hornig plug or the Viton o-rings. Third, and last, has anyone installed the Wunderlich "Dry Safe" oil filler kit?

I've installed a few of the Wunderlich kits on my bike and other bikes. They work but make sure you have the correct Allen wrench with you on trips. The little key they give you is useless.

Bought and installed the Wunderlich kit. The installation went easily, and so far it appears that it’s exactly what was needed.
