Launching 2-up 07 RT

If BMW would put in an additional gear (so seven in total) then we could enjoy a shorter gear. Yes you might have to be careful on take-off, given the HP, but I think it would make driving it slow (in traffic, loaded, 2-up) much more comfortable.

maybe I just don't get it

Maybe...

When my R12RT was new - as in first 2000 miles - low speed throttle response was very "fluffy". (well, thats what I call it. You can call it whatever you want). Combine that with a "Bonneville" first gear, two up and a full tank of fuel AND maybe a bit o gravel and you have yourself a bit of excitement.

Bottom line-throttle response improved a notch or two with more break in - just like my beloved R100RT did. And mine became less likely to stall. And yes, single plate dry clutches require a different technique that multi plate wet clutches.

Gee, it's not like this info on BMW boxers hasn't been well known ( at least by riders who can read) for about 40 or so years.

Gee whizz, Mr. Wizard! :scratch
