K75 stealth bike

I ride a '90 K75 naked. No fairing or windscreen. You know those radar signs they put where a road goes from a freeway 65 mph down to a two lane road 55 mph, or when you go into a town with lower speed limits?

My bike does not trigger them. I've suspected this for some time, but last week I had the chance to pass one with no cars behind me and it didn't come on.

Then, on the same road, I passed another, and again, nothing until I was right up near it and it read the car behind me at 51mph. Both times I was holding at a steady 60mph to test it.

Have any of you noticed this? This does not mean I'm going to be speeding in cities or near the local freeway speed traps :nono. As far as two lane twisties go, nothing's changed :evil.

I would be surprised that a "Current Speed" sign would use radar on a multilane highway such as a freeway. We have many in CA on two lane roads and every bike I know triggers the radar version. Your headlight is a WONDERFUL radar reflector as is the mass of the bike. (I actually use these signs to 'guage' my speedos on my various vehicles) My guess is that the freeway signs might be triggered by inductance loops in the pavement and motorcycles often do not trigger them....witness the number of left turn lights that do not trigger...Not sure why yours would not trigger radar.
YMMV
