Help with tool kit.

Hello folks.
I am looking for ideas on what I should put in my tool bag for touring. I have a 98 R1100RT (Hall Sensor already replaced). So far I have the following.
Screwdriver with multiple heads.
Needle nose pliers
metric hex keys
small metric socket set
plan on getting:
air pump
tire gauge
puncture repair kit,

Any advice would be greatly helpful.

I would look at the tools in the OEM tool kit that was supplied with the 1100RT. There have been only a handful of additional pieces that I have added to mine.

I would add - at a minimum - a 10mm and a 13mm combination (open end / box end) wrench. I actually carry a set of "stubby" combination wrenches. Mine happen to be 8mm through 19mm but 10mm through 177 would be about as good in practice.

As I found out on a recent trip. Having a small collection of screws and nuts for emergency repairs is a good idea too.

Here are mine:

KTM 640 Adventure tool set

R65 LS tool

R100 RS tool set

R1100 S tool set and there is a plug set with CO2 cartridges under these.

These sets will do pretty much anything.

Zip ties and baling wire.

I’ve learned to add to the BMW kits, a 19mm wrench, zip ties, a backup headlight as well as a pair of spark plugs. If travelling with my trailer, the tool kit is more extensive (for use by others more competent than me). The other two major additions are a towing package and a credit card.

I do not carry a tow strap but each bike has a couple short, double loop straps for the forks in the event of a tow. On one occasion I was concerned with what the tow operator was using. If pulling my trailer, I pack a couple of ratchet straps for use if portaging by ferry. Most have ratchet straps but some have ropes for securing bikes (and I never did succeed in getting my Rope Tying Badge in Scouts).

I bought Mosko Moto cinch straps which double as tow straps. I can attest they worked as designed.
