Hi all, Just took delivery of my new (to me) 2016 R1200RS. It's got just under 5,000 miles and is i great condition. Have been looking for a lighter weight bike that's fun to ride and this seems to fit the bill. My wife also rides and between us we have 6 bikes (including the Beemer). My other rides consist of a 1999 Honda Shadow 1100, 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 and a 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager. My wife rides a 2015 Honda CTX 700 and a 2017 Kawasaki Vulcan 650S. The BMW would have been 7, except that we just sold our 2008 Harley Davidson Fat Boy 105th Anniversary model. The BMW and 650S stay in Florida with the remainder reside in upstate New York. We are fortunate to be able to winter in Florida so we can ride year-round. I'm a DIY so am looking for good advice and tips on maintaining our new BMW. I've already changed the Oil & Filter and Final Drive oil. We are fortunate to have a very reputable dealer in Daytona Beach for in depth service. We are always looking to meet new fellow riders both in Florida and NY.IMG_20230104_144627498_HDR.jpg

Willkommen, Mike-52 from the Tenn River valley

I hope U really get into this BMW thing (as we have done). We got Mrs-HSV a similar ’16 RS in April ’21 in time to do our Iron Butt Nat’l Parks Tour. She put 30K miles on her bike last summer; she also recently went over 200K miles on a variety of BMWs. https://www.ironbutt.com/themerides/npt/

As far as DIY maintenance, you ought to investigate an old friend from the Metro-DC BMW club { ‘JVB’ }; he offers a selection of CDs for various BMWs {and he usually has a Tech Day at his house in Alexandria every April}... >> http://jvbproductions.com/DVD_Info_Sales.html <<

Maybe you’ll find the time and inclination to attend the 2023 BMW MOA International Rally in June in Doswell, VA. :brow

Welcome to BMW and the MOA. Good looking RS.
My wife and I had a pair of Lupin Blue / Light Grey Metallic like yours.

Welcome aboard! Have many fond memories of the BMW Bulow campgrounds in the early 2000's. Such a great rally in early spring. Many Thanks to the Space Coast BMW group that put this on. I still miss the late night campfires and the risque clubhouse after midnight.

Ah yes, Bulow …
Don’t forget the burnout pits and 1% party busses!
But, we were all so much younger then.
