GPS Mount Removal R1250RS

Hi folks

Just got my new 2022 R1250RS and I want to remove the gps holder that came with the bike. I got it off but there is a wire from it that disappears down under the gas tank. I have a few questions and one rant...

1. Does anyone know if the wire goes to a junction somewhere that I can find and disconnect without cutting it?

2. I tried to take the plastic tank side panel off to see what's under there but after taking off the torx bolts it is still fastened somehow. Any help there?

The rant - like many of you, I am surprised and irritated that I can't get a shop manual, wiring diagram or any help from BMW figuring this out. I'm actually OK with doing most service at the dealer due to the complexity of this bike, but not being able to do these two simple things without asking all of you is nuts.

Thanks for any help.

Done - and thanks!

Thanks for the tips - I used them all and got the wire removed properly.

Anyone want the gps mount? Not sure if it has value.

I would hang onto it. You might change your mind or when you sell the bike, the buyer will probably want it.
I've seen Want To Buy ads for the cradle and there's one for sale now in the MOA Marketplace.

From BMW the cradle costs $483 and the lock is $75.
