Eagle Cam at Big Bear

Yeah, I saw a lot of that yesterday as well. Seems like they're flapping, hopping, and seeing how the wings help with that. I was wondering what would happen if one jumped to that perch and then fell off?? A day with some good wind would also give them some confidence. As of this moment ( 5/29 13:04:20 in your video), one actually separated about from that limb extension by about 8-10 inches. Getting close!!

First flight!!! That I've seen anyway. At 10:46:10 on the camera's clock, one of them leap into the future!! The camera panned a bit to see if maybe it went to another tree. :thumb

Update: On one of the panned shots, it seems that it flew to another tree about 50-75 yards away. I saw it stretch its wings.

The last baby sure seems a little sad. :( The return of the other baby is unsure according to the TV news yesterday. This last one may begin to test the wings in the nest to develop confidence.

Well, near 11:30 on the cam time, the other sibling flew back. Parents had brought up some dinner, so why not!!

Can't say as I've seen it ran on the nest before. Right now at 13:40 or so on the cam timer, a small shower is going over. They seem to want to flap their wings, maybe to dry them out or something.

Holy cow! Now it's hailing!! ~13:58 And a loud scary lightning and thunder around 14:02. Really shook them.

Yeah, the mountains up there, tho small in comparison to others, can get some pretty serious storms.
It's been sprinkling on and off down here, with a bit of thunder.

It hit Long Beach pretty hard yesterday just before 5pm. I saw raindrops on the windows at work, and was riding in sprinkles until I pulled up at the home garage, when thunder hit and the skies opened the faucet.

The other baby just doesn't seem interested in heading out. She seems to be mostly waiting around for mom to drop off more fish. It's interesting to try and think what's going through her mind.

She finally flew!! Or maybe just fell off. At about 8:28 on their clock. She was flapping her wings, seemed to stumble, and then you can see a flurry of wings as they disappear from the screen. Will have to see if she gets things together and comes back.

Some reporting on this here:

"Whaddaya mean there's no more fish?? Then bring me a squirrel!" :eat

Pretty lonely at the top!! I've seen other posts around the internet that shows the birds flying back and forth...one even showed momma delivering a fish to another tree! Looks this is another camera trying to follow them around...someone is moving the camera around to locate them:
