Yep, I've been using the same filter wrench on all our BMWs since 1988.

And, this wrench also works on various Mercedes, VW, and Porsche, as it's virtually a German standard.

It's certainly not something that must be purchased at your BMW dealer.

Nor is the "spline" wrench required for Hexheads/Camheads, one of which I've purchased online for < $10 (German made as well)
