Ah Roy, Brillig reports aren't due till the end of the quarter.
:laugh
That is good news. I am putting down my vorpal pen (it's mightier than the sword), and heading down to the borogoves on break, for a snicker snack.

So what's this I hear about Roy having problems with his Brillig reports? Didn't he get the memo?

I forget which candidate was going to eliminate Brilig reports.... Oh HE double toothpicks, I can't say that stuff anymore can I ... Sorry.:blush

Your input is needed.

Just a second notice for any members who are interested in developing a proposal to reinstigate, ah re-instate a DGT type forum.

Please Email me from my profile page if you would be interested in participating. A group of members are trying to put together a proposal that will work within club forum guidelines and self-moderate. This proposal will be made through the appropriate channels as we have been directed by the Communications Committee. All members and ideas are welcome and encouraged to contribute to this.

If you have any questions at all about this, please PM or Email me.

yeah he is. he's a member and a volunteer.

Ian I don't agree with you, or with Hodag's call for resignation.

He is different because he volunteers. That in itself sets him apart from most of us. In addition he volunteers in a very special place that has much to do with the way the members communicate with one another. This doesn't make him better, or put a higher standard on him than any other member. The concern is that he held to the same standard. The perception for some is that there are multiple standards.

I hope to get to the drug store today and get a stronger set of reading glasses so that I will be better able to split the hair in this issue.

well, hmmmm.... username is a member and he volunteers. hodag is a member and he volunteers.

username said here that he was wrong and moderated himself. pretty upstanding, imo.... he held himself to exactly the same standard as anyone else here gets held to. no hairs are being split.

now people are attacking him publicly. our posting guidelines have a process for expressing concern about moderators.

clearly, people need to familiarize themselve with these new guidelines, it would be greatly appreciated if folks would use them.

thanks.

Ian is 100% correct.
I did not follow the correct protocol that is in place in regards to voicing an opinion about the performance of a moderator.

The protocol dictates:
protocol v1.11 updated February 11, 2008

Concerns & Complaints
Moderators are all volunteers, they are not perfect and as often as folks turn a bright line quite grey there will be moderation results that seem inconsistent. If you have a complaint or feel youÔÇÖve been treated unfairly just drop a line to the Forum Liaison at liaison@bmwmoa.org (it will help to have a complete explanation of your thoughts with links to specific threads and posts.)

Please feel free to ping any moderator at any time with any questions ÔÇô please remember though that any and all questions, comments and/or complaints involving a moderatorÔÇÖs actions should be directed to the Forum Liaison.

Moderator Code of conduct
Moderators must be fair, impartial and consistent in the application of the posting guidelines. Just as users must use their common sense, moderators must rely on their good judgment. As always, any user who believes a moderatorÔÇÖs action (or lack thereof) is either not sufficient or is too harsh should contact the Forum Liaison at liaison@bmwmoa.org or the BMW MOA Executive Director Ray Zimmerman at rayz@bmwmoa.org (it will help to have a complete explanation of your thoughts with links to specific threads and posts.)

(interesting updated today....)

I wonder what the protocol is for reporting "other" volunteers?

Hello everyone, this is not a concern or a complaint. Just wanted to inform everyone of today's updated rules if you do have a concern or complaint. Please see the forum rules so you do not receive a PM such as I received today copied below. We all have to abide by rules so it's important to view these rules updated today so please go to the forum rules and review to avoid such a PM as below.

Moderation warning #1

right now, i'd prefer a PM with your concerns.... i am not certain the e-mail address has been aliased to mine.

if you have a complaint about a moderator, PM me.

if you have a complaint about me, either call our executive director, or communicate with a board member.

thank you for your cooperation.

our crack staff is standing by.

.02 for what it's worth.

There are several members currently working on a proposal to reinstate a DGT type thread. That proposal will be submitted according to the established club guidelines.

The current thread is getting downright adversarial in places, apparently on both sides of the argument. That atmosphere will not help to get a DGT forum reinstated.

I realize that there are those who have other issues they are addressing here as well. I don't want to suggest that I know better than anyone else but I would like to suggest that since this thread is about the shutting down of the DGT, and that is being addressed, that we let the DGT portion of this die for now and that the other issues be addressed elsewhere.

I have no official standing within the MOA and am only one of the folks trying to come up with a solution to the DGT issue so please take this as nothing more than a fellow member asking a favor. There is no critique of anyone involved intended. If you want to help try to bring back DGT, help us work within the MOA boundaries.
