Defective Remus Exhaust??

I looked at an '04 R1150R with a friend last night. It has a Remus Genesis Carbon sport exhaust on it. The carbon fiber on the can is soft on about the front 2/3 . The section behind the mount is still hard. Anyone ever have/hear of this happening? Does anyone know who the actual Remus distributor is in the US? I'm not having much luck searching the web. The seller is not the original owner and he got the bike with the pipe on it. I'm wondering if Remus might repair or replace it.

By the way carbon fibre does not last as long as titanium in exhaust systems.
