Most 500 series roads in NJ are enjoyable. There are a few a bit to the west of Madison I can recommend, 519, 521, 571. A nice ride up to High-Point State Park to the Monument should be enjoyable. Watch for deer, bear and wild-turkey. I can also recommend Rt 29 along the Delaware River, south to Trenton from Frenchtown. There is an excellent Asian restaurant in Frenchtown on ummm.. let me look, on 619 just north of town http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...views-Bamboo_House-Frenchtown_New_Jersey.html It has never failed to delight me, and lunch is quite reasonable.

The Lambertville Flea Market http://gnflea.com/ is open Weds. Get there before noon for the best stuff.. Lambertville itself has several excellent restaurants, and if you're into motorcycle-self-abuse, you can always cross the river into New Hope PA - land of the dudes and dudettes and terminally hip. It's interesting to visit - once. PA R32 is good from Washington's Crossing to the bridge to Frenchtown, except for going through New Hope (AKA No-Hope), nice road, great views of the river.

Those should keep you amused. As I mentioned - 500 series roads are usually quite enjoyable out in the wooded north-west part of NJ.

Northeast of you is where you'll find the nice elevations. About an hour and change North of you via the Palisades Parkway is Seven Lakes Drive and Perkins Memorial Drive. All riding in and around Bear Mountain State Park is great. You could also head up Route 9W to Route 218 (a/k/a Storm King Highway) past West Point Military Academy for some scenic views looking waaaay down on the Hudson River. Route 106 through Harriman State Park is nice too. You'll actually be in New York but not real far from New Jersey. Again, an hour or so up, a couple of hours enjoying the area, and an hour or so back.

I don't know the Jersey coast well at all, but you'll be about an hour and a half north of Asbury Park, NJ and I'm sure there's lots to do there.

Well today I am starting the trip east, I plan on being in Allentown Saturday, then Madison Sunday so I can start my day trips. Thanks for the help and keep it up please.

Thanks. Do you know of any little places to go on the coast?

Well... I'm 10 blocks from the Atlantic, so.. what sort of "little places" would you like to go to? Be glad to show you around. Madison to me is probably 60-70 minutes by the Garden State Parkway (not lovely, but better then the Turnpike.) I'll be around a few days next week, then I'm off to Nova Scotia on Thursday.

Thanks for all of the help and offers, I had a ball, the 500 roads are wild and easy to get lost on. I did make it to Newport RI by by route1 and 1a but I had to make a two day trip out of that.
