day rides out of Vegas

We'll be spending 3 days in Vegas. One day we're planning on doing the Hoover Dam, then valley of fire loop.

Looking for others suggestions for day rides out of Vegas where we're back before the sun goes down [ don't mind leaving at sunup to start the day ].

We're on an 07GT and 11RT. We can leave the dry bags at the room for a few days before we head off to Oatman, Az. to catch the donkeys on main street, then on to Winslow for the obligatory pics at "standing on the corner".

Thanks

Mount Charleston is a nice break, and there’s food available at The Retreat and The Lodge. If you get back to town early, the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas is an interesting stop, especially the section on photographing live the underground test detonations as they happened.

Best,
DeVern

Great suggestion, not sure during Xmas we will be able to get to the top on motors, depending on weather I suppose. It'll be cold at the top, like 15F late Dec according to the temp charts for that place. We'll have the gear to hold off the cold, it's its open to the top Dec26th, we'll make it late morning trip, let it warm up a little anyway before we start climbing in elevation

Thanks for the suggestion sir

Area 51 (aka Groom Lake, and serviced by the Homey Airport); Rachel NV will sell you souviners; and of course Death Valley. Gas WILL be expensive.

Take a ride up to the https://littlealeinn.com/ on the Extraterrestrial Highway 375 in Rachel for an Alien Burger. Not sure about gas there now, but you should see fuel available in Alamo and Ash Springs on the way. After your visit to the A'Le'Inn, look for a road behind the Inn on GPS called Valley Road or Back Gate Road that will take you past a farm to the back gate of Area-51. When you get there, I would look around for only a few seconds, turn around and head back out again! If you dare take photos and the dude comes out of the guard tub and tells you not to do that, don't give him the finger! Once back to paved 375 and turning right. After a few miles and at the end of a loong straight before a left bend you will see a dirt road named 51Rd or Groom Rd on your right, you go several miles to a sharp right corner where the signs are to stop and go away, The camo dudes sit up on the right in a truck to make sure you do not go further to where the physical gate is. On your way out and back, watch for vehicles coming up behind you very fast and keep right to let them blast by, leaving you in a cloud of dust :laugh ! No worries as they are just going to and from work! Depending on what time of day it is, you may see the bus that gives employees rides to and from work.

They probably have a newer one now!
