Still Wondering
Fabrizio snatches the Superpole from Spies on his last flying lap and after the chequered flag had fallen.
From: WorldSBK
Superpole 1
Rae, Spies, Haslam and Haga would make up the front row. Haslam took P3 from Haga as the flag dropped on the session.
Corser advances to Superpole 2 in P11 while teammate Xaus in P19 does not and will start the race in the fifth row. Corser must improve three grid spots if he is going to advance out of the second round.
Superpole 2
Rae, Spies, Smrz and Biaggi would make up the front row after round 2 of Superpole. Biaggi and new Aprilia teammate Simoncelli made last second moves past Corser on the grid leaving him in P9. He will start in the third row of SundayÔÇÖs race.
Spies and Rae will be the only riders on non-Italian machines for this very Italian Superpole finale.
Superpole 3
Rae was out early and pushing the field taking the early lead for pole position. Haga snatched it from him on his third lap. Spies was out late and took the pole with his third lap and pitted. He held on until the chequered flag fell and Fabrizio was able to jump to the pole position.
Smrz was shown as crashing on his final flying lap after the flag fell. No news on how serious this is.
Very impressive first outing for Simoncelli!
CorserÔÇÖs recent ability to pull off great race starts of late will be put to the test as he starts on the third row for SundayÔÇÖs race. Xaus may be disappointed with failing to advance deeper into the Superpole sessions but I am amazed that he is racing at all. I will post a wrap up late this evening.
