Aux lights for the 1150GS

From what I've read, and from talking to other owners, it appears to me that the Pia 520's and 1000 or 1100 series is the prefered choice for auxilary lights for this bike. Anyone have any comments?

Hi Steve. I was the guy with the R80 out at Pemi who stayed on your bumper doing 100 up the interstate. Alas, that bike is sold now and I have the mighty K75s. Though I hate to refer you to another forum, check out advriders.com. They have all kinds of stuff about GS equipment on it.

You are correct, they have been discontinued.

Other lights that are discussed are Lightforce 140's/170's; Hella FF50/FF75 and FF100's. There are two forums that have a lot of info on GS light add-ons Adventure Rider and UKGS

Go to both and use the "search" function and look for "lights". Do this on a weekend when you don't have any other plans - there is a lot of info there.

When I was looking for lights for my GS, Micatech had some of the best prices.

Hey, lets not discount moto lites. I have them on my GS and couldn't be happier. Don't know how any bike lives without them

The PIAAs were too pricey for little ol' me. I went with some Hellas.

I like them - but they're still in the box. I get them out about once a week and look at them - they look good. Gotta get over to Chuck@micatech in Spokane and pick up the lightbar/autoswitch he's been holding onto for me, might do it this week as I need some stuff from Costco. Depends on the weather, it's snowing heavy right now. Trying to decide if I need a harness, the lights came with a bunch of wire and what I think is a fused relay.

There is more than enough wiring with the lights. The only thing that I added was a water resistant switch and a mounting bracket for that switch.
