Aftermarket Fenders (or Mudguards, as you prefer)

My Christmas present this year was a paint job for the frame, fenders, etc. on my /5 (the catch is I have to paint them hot pink with neon green pinstripes, but that's another story).

My original fenders are in pretty shabby shape, and I've been trying to decide whether to attempt a repair and repaint, or sell them for scrap fiberglass. As you can see on the front fender, there are cracks that are causing it to bend slightly up and not follow the line of the wheel:

I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket replacement. So far I've come up with boxercafe and airtech as candidates who craft fiberglass fender replacements. Anyone have experience with either of them, or have alternate suggestions?

Also, does anyone have any picture examples of the police-style front fender mounted on an airhead? Both of the above places offer it as an option. It looks interesting, but my Google-fu is not coming up with any examples.

Do a web search for Jorgs Motorcycle Pages. Hilite the R100TIC. Hilite the bikes pics, should give you a good idea of how the fender looks. If you are looking at a aftermarket police fender ask the vender if the fender is also finished properly on the underside. I've got a couple of the BMW oem police fenders on my airheads and like them. These fenders fit all airheads from '74 to '84.

Perfect! Here's the page with great pictures of the police fender in action.

Here's the only other example of a police-style front fender I was able to find. Also featuring a Heinrich tank.

Found here, at John's Beemer Garage.

I have found these fenders for sale used on ebay.

Do you recall the general price range when they come up on eBay?
