Is there any one out there who has used the Adaptive Technologies TPX Radar Detector with Visual Alert?

Some of the reviewing outfits say it is the best motorcycle specific unit, others say it is weak in detecting K and Ka bands.

The unit with visual alert can be purchased for around $300. They want $80 for their bike mount.

If it's weak for K and especially Ka, it's useless especially since so many LEO transceivers are now using low power and limited range.

I have had one since they were first introduced. I recently upgraded to the 2.0 version. In my opinion it is a terrific unit. Since using it I have never been ambushed by radar.

The challenge is to find a reviewing outfit that is independent.

I've also read mixed reviews on the Adaptiv, so I'm staying with my Excort 8500 for the time being, and getting Blue Tooth so I can go wireless into the helmet.

Yes, I got the Visual Alert with the 2.0 model, but I am using the Visual Alert from the old unit. I believe they are the same. I also have the wireless audio alert. The Visual Alert alone is not sufficient, IMO.

Thanks for the complete answer. They claim their wireless audio alert can be heard through ear plugs. It is good to hear from someone actually using the equipment.
