88 R100RT Heated Grips

I've got an 88 RT without heated grips. I happen to have two grips, a switch and the wiring sub-harness, into which plug the grips and the switch. On my GS the main harness has a connector for the sub harness. The wiring diagram for the RT shows such a connector, but I can't seem to find it on the bike.

Is it there somewhere, or should I surrender? Maybe inside the dash and I just haven't dug deep enough yet?

Give me a bit

Give me a bit, and I will check my 84 Rt to see where they plug in at. Fuzzy memory seems there is a green combo wire plug near the steering head that the heated grip wiring plugs into and jumpers. St.

So

Looking at my bike, on the right side in front of the gas tank is a plug with two green combo wires one green/black the other green/red? sorry, I can't see that well, lol.

This is the starting point for the factory heated hand grip wiring. Not sure if this is the same on an 88 as most of the 88 wiring has been moved out of the headlight shell and under the gas tank.

Maybe if it isn't the same spot, look for a similar plug and wire combo under the gas tank. Good luck, St.

Bmw

LOL, yeah sometimes the wiring gets confusing. BMW is very good about making their optional stuff fit so, there will be a place to plug in the heated grips.

I will dig into my records and see if I have a schematic for the heated grips. They don't show up on any of the regular wiring schematics.

A plug for EME, company, they have the best wiring diagrams on the market, full color with all PIN numbers and large matted plastic. Not expensive, get one and you will be happy, LOL. St.

The wiring is all different of course for the 1990s bikes ... I bet there is a connector waiting for you to plug in (if you had the complete factory kit).
