'88 K75S Stop Disk

Hello,

I've replaced the clutch "O" ring and output shaft oil seal on a K100 and a K1100. The K100 and K1100 both had what BMW calls a STOP DISK that fits on the clutch housing. I'm now replacing the clutch oil ring and shaft seal on a '88 K75S. When I removed the clutch housing there was not a stop disk. The MAX parts fiche clutch diagram shows the stop disk as #10 but the parts description doesn't list it. So, my question is, is the '88 K75S supposed to have a stop disk and if so how do you determine what thickness to use?

Regards,

Richard,

There is no stop disk used on the K75, only the 4 cylinder K bikes.

BMW saves labor when doing the drawings for the parts fiche by using the same drawing for the clutch package and then not listing parts when they don’t apply to the model you are searching.

The clutch drawing was originally drawn for the K100. When the K75 came along, they just used the same drawing even though parts 1, 3, 4 & 5 look different on a K75 and part 10 isn’t used.
