2016 R1200 GSA wiring sheath disintegrating

My 2016 R1200 GSA (LC) was bought new in Oct 2015 and currently has about 87,000 miles on it.
I commute to/from work almost daily and have done several long trips including the Go Big 4-Corners Rally in CO.

When I went to move the bike today to get to my lawn mower I noticed the wires coming from left-side handlebar were exposed and the sheathing is just all dried up and falling off.
Before I go and repair this on my own some Kuryakyn Round-It mesh sleeving I was curious of 2 things:

1) Has anyone else had this happen to an R1200?
2) Do you think an extended warranty would cover replacing the loom for this as a safety aspect as a pinched wire could lead to engine stopping which could cause an accident if in a turn or other dangerous situation?
I think I have a few months left on it (till Oct 2021?)

Product I'm thinking of using :

Thanks in advance

Dave
