2015 R1200GS - RHS Combination Switch Replacement

I need to replace the right-side combination switch on my '15 R1200GS (the starter rocker switch has failed, and my repair only lasted a year so I'm biting the bullet on a new switch). My question is regarding which replacement P/N to buy - I see two that appear to fit my bike:
I'm inclined to pick the 2nd one, on the theory that it might be a newer design and therefore possibly fix the design flaw in my original. But this is really a SWAG.

Anyone have any fact-based insight as to which is preferable?

TIA,

Dave

Google shows this

A recall was issued for certain 2015 BMW R1200 motorcycles regarding the switchgear, specifically related to potential issues with the kill switch functionality where the bike could unexpectedly shut off due to a faulty switchgear assembly, potentially causing a safety hazard while riding; check with your local BMW dealer to confirm if your specific bike is affected by this recall and to get it serviced.

Key points about the recall:
  • Affected models:
Primarily the 2015 BMW R1200GS models, though other R1200 variants might be included.
  • Issue:
Faulty switchgear assembly, particularly around the kill switch, which could lead to unintended engine shutdowns while riding.

  • How to check:
Contact your local BMW dealership with your bike's VIN number to see if it is affected by the recall.

We had the switch gear replaced on our K1300S bikes. I found the paper work and it was called a Service Campaign.
It was a no charge replacement.

8 546 182 is for bikes without factory heated grips (option 0519)

8 567 720 is with factory heated grips.

That's really helpful, thanks. Mine has the factory heated grips so I'll make sure to get ...720 if I can't convince my dealer to replace it for free ;-)
